For our research on contribution quality metrics, we focused on users with accounts so that we could easily track them across multiple edits. An odd fact that turned up in our data: about a third of all users only ever made a single edit with their account! (There is currently a problem with our statistics gathering, so this is only approximate.)

WikiSym 2008

Our paper on measuring author contributions was published in WikiSym 2008. An interesting thing that came out of the work is that you can use contribution measures to partition users into groups with different behaviors. Please read the slides I presented for a quick summary of the work.
